Hairy Cicadas
Tettigarctidae
The Tettigarctidae, also known as the hairy cicadas, are a small relict (mostly extinct) family of primitive cicadas, containing a single genus Tettigarcta, with two extant species, one in southern Australia (Tettigarcta crinita), and the other in Tasmania (Tettigarcta tomentosa). Fossil taxa include Paratettigarcta zealandica from the Miocene of New Zealand, Meuniera haupti from the Paleocene of France, and Sanmai kongi from the Late Jurassic of China
