discussion
Remarks. Clarias teijsmanni Bleeker is presently regarded as a junior synonym of Clarias leiacanthus (see Kottelat, 2013: 243). The citation of both names by Choy & Chin (1994) from the Belalong basin, and Sulaiman & Shahdan (2007) from Tasek Merimbun, is a strong indication that there are two species involved. From material obtained at Tasek Merimbun, Sulaiman & Shahdan (2003: 61) identified Clarias leiacanthus by the white edges to its median fins and C. teijsmanni, by its squarish head and ‘ darker colour’.
